Reservoir Studies & FDP
Simulation-based reservoir studies, history matching and prediction, reserves estimation and field development planning support — including EOR/IOR screening for mature assets.
Advisory16+ years of international E&P across the US, Vietnam, the UK, Canada, Kazakhstan, Peru and Iraq — integrating reservoir, production and artificial lift. I build the tools I wanted on those projects and give them away: single HTML files, no install, no server, your data never leaves your machine.
01 — About
I'm a Petroleum Engineer Manager in the American & Europe Technology Team at Korea National Oil Corporation, working across international asset evaluation, reservoir simulation, reserves and field development planning, EOR/IOR and new ventures. My work has covered complex reservoirs — fractured basement, gas-condensate, tight gas, heavy oil and carbonates.
For three and a half years I was seconded from KNOC to Cuu Long JOC in Vietnam and sat on the operations side, bridging reservoir engineering and production: ESP and artificial lift optimisation, production surveillance, well interventions, and gas-condensate allocation. That is where the habit started — every diagnostic run ended with a folder of gauge files and an afternoon in Excel, so I began building the tools instead.
The tool does the arithmetic. What decides the answer is pressure data quality and an understanding of that specific field's drive mechanism — and neither of those can be automated away.
I'm currently extending this into AI/ML and digital reservoir engineering — not to have a model produce the answer, but to make the engineer's judgement easier: surface the other matches that fit the data equally well, and make sure nothing plausible went unconsidered.

Free engineering tools built on standard physics, with the assumptions written out in full. Each one is a single HTML file — it works offline, straight from disk, and nothing you load is ever uploaded anywhere.
Black-oil and dry-gas (p/z) modes with Havlena–Odeh straight line, five aquifer models (Pot · Schilthuis · Fetkovich · Carter–Tracy), drive index breakdown, Campbell and Cole diagnostics, multi-tank Newton solution and Nelder–Mead history matching. EN/KO manuals included.
● Live — mb-joo.vercel.appPlots gauge pressure and temperature against depth, and handles valve design, casing pressure and shut-in fluid level. Turns a folder of gauge text files into a diagnostic plot without the afternoon in Excel.
● Live — gas-lift-diagnosis416,000 monthly records from 4,265 wells across 268 UK fields — 25 years of open NSTA data rebuilt into something you can actually browse, filter and plot well by well.
● Live — uk-field-info.vercel.appSimulation-based reservoir studies, history matching and prediction, reserves estimation and field development planning support — including EOR/IOR screening for mature assets.
AdvisoryTechnical and commercial evaluation of international E&P opportunities: data room review, independent reserves opinion, and production performance assessment for investment decisions.
AdvisoryWrite-ups on what the tools are actually doing and where they break — material balance non-uniqueness, pressure data quality, and what AI can and cannot decide for a reservoir engineer.
